Sarah Binion, a native Texan, has lived, worked, and traveled all over the world. She currently serves as the Director of Monitoring, Evaluation, and Impact for Defy Ventures, a national non-profit that facilitates the transition of men and women in prison back into the community through personal empowerment, well-being, and entrepreneurial skill development.
Prior to her work with Defy she lived and worked aboard the Adonia, a ship for the Fathom brand that launched a 100 million dollar product: the first-ever purpose-driven travel cruise line dedicated to social impact and development in Cuba and the Dominican Republic. She made history on the ship by being on the first voyage in over fifty years to sail between America and Cuba. Before joining Fathom, Sarah lived in London, UK for four years working on and evaluating social impact assessment in microfinance initiatives. Sarah has a BA in Journalism, an MA in International Studies and is finishing her Ph.D. in International Development at Tulane University. She also really likes wine and queso.
