Social justice is my thing. After a 30 years in local government in London and short stints in NHS England and Department for Education, since 2019 I have been volunteering for Black Thrive to achieve change on the systemic issues that lead to a disproportionately high number of Black people having mental health problems. The murder of George Floyd is the sharp end of the daily injustices that make us mad. I am also chair Health Employment Partnerships (a subsidiary of Social Finance), I am a trustee of Action for Southern Africa, Ballet Black, Bernie Grant Arts Centre, DFN-Project Search and Global Generation and a friend of Journey to Justice. Before covid-19 my leisure time mostly involved a smattering of culture, eating, drinking and having a laugh. I’m resetting my centre of gravity right now.
