The Aftermath – where now for the economy?

When the economy starts to re-open, the chances are it won’t look the same as it did before the coronavirus outbreak. Nobody really knows how long we will be co-existing with the remanences of coronavirus.  In the UK, we are being led to believe that social distancing measures may need to be flexed over the next 12-18 months to protect communities and the national health service. This will impact on how how people connect with the emerging economic landscape. On both sides of the Atlantic, in addition to loss of life, there will be job losses, uncertainty and maybe even a rethinking of dependence on global supply chains.  There are more questions than answers at this stage but our panel will explore how the new landscape might evolve.

Chair: Rhian Chilcott ’11 (UK)

Panel: Evan Davis (UK)
Jon Shields ’86 (US)
Andrea Westall  ’99 (UK)
